Frederick McKinley Jones (1893-1961) was born in Covington, Kentucky. This American inventor and engineer is best known for his innovative mobile refrigeration technology, revolutionizing the transportation of perishable goods, which played a major logistical role for the United States in World War II.
In his lifetime Jones received 61 patents, including 40 for refrigeration, and was posthumously awarded the National Medal of Technology in 1991.
